Volunteer Opportunities - Burghead

All of our volunteering opportunities require either a PVG (Buddies and Day Services) or Standard Disclosure (Alarm Responders) which will be paid for by Moray Council.  We also require volunteers to be reliable and committed, trustworthy and respectful, able to maintain boundaries and follow policies and procedures.  Training is available including Adult Protection.

Home Buddy – ref BUR21 (reopened 23/8/21)

When – 2 hours once a week   
Role – To visit with lady in her own home  
Tasks – To visit with lady in her own home for coffee and chat. To support lady to explore hobbies and interests. To provide social contact and alleviate loneliness. 
Skills required – An awareness of difficulties experienced by people with low mood and anxiety issues desirable but not essential. 

Home Buddy – ref BUR35 (8/3/22)

When – 2 hours once a week      
Role – To visit with lady in her own home  
Tasks – To visit with lady in her own home providing social contact over cuppa and chat.   
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with dementia desirable but not essential.

Alarm Responder x 2 ref BUR42 (8/9/23)

When – as required, emergency situations only
Role – Community Alarm responder/keyholder for a male – must live within 30 minutes travel time   
Tasks – call and check well being of person who has activated alarm
Skills required – Understanding, calm in difficult situations, level headed

Social Buddy – ref BUR44 (19/3/24)

When – 2 hours once a week                                                                   
Role
– To visit with lady in her own home and support to go shopping and out in the community
Tasks – To visit with lady at home and support to go out in the community  
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mobility difficulties (wheelchair user) desirable but not essential

Alarm Responder x 1 ref BUR45 (30/4/24)

When – as required, emergency situations only
Role – Community Alarm responder/keyholder for a male – must live within 30 minutes travel time   
Tasks – call and check well being of person who has activated alarm
Skills required – Understanding, calm in difficult situations, level headed

Alarm Responder x 2 ref BUR46 (29/5/24)

When – as required, emergency situations only
Role – Community Alarm responder/keyholder for a male – must live within 30 minutes travel time   
Tasks – call and check well being of person who has activated alarm
Skills required – Understanding, calm in difficult situations, level headed
