All of our volunteering opportunities require either a PVG (Buddies and Day Services) or Standard Disclosure (Alarm Responders) which will be paid for by Moray Council.  We also require volunteers to be reliable and committed, trustworthy and respectful, able to maintain boundaries and follow policies and procedures.  Training is available including Adult Protection.

Social/Admin – ref BU86 (reopened 31/7/20)

When – 2 hours once a week                          
Role – To support lady with admin tasks and going out for coffee
Tasks – To visit with lady and support with making telephone calls and general correspondence. To support her to go out in the local community for coffee.  
Skills required – An awareness of difficulties experienced by people with aphasia following a stroke desirable but not essential.

Social Buddy – ref BU87 (reopened 15/4/24)

When – 2 hours once a week                      
Role – To visit with lady in her own home  
Tasks – To visit with lady in her own home providing social contact over cuppa and chat. To go out in the community when health permits                                                           
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mobility difficulties  desirable but not essential

Correspondence Buddy – ref BU99 (7/5/19)

When – 2 hours once a week                           
Role – To support gentleman with correspondence  
Tasks – To visit with gentleman and support with general correspondence. To help manage anxiety and improve mental health          
Skills required – An awareness of difficulties experienced by people with mental health issues desirable but not essential

Role – Community Alarm responder/keyholder for a lady – must live within 30 minutes travel time   
Tasks – call and check well being of person who has activated alarm
Skills required – Understanding, calm in difficult situations, level headed

Home Buddy – ref BU145 (29/9/21)

When – 2 hours once a week (evening preferrable)      
Role – To visit with gentleman in his own home for coffee and chat
Tasks – To visit with gentleman at home for coffee and chat. To provide social contact and reduce isolation. 
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mobility difficulties and mental health issues desirable but not essential.

Social/Outings Buddy – ref BU153 (29/4/22)

When – 2 hours once a week                                                
Role – To visit with gentleman and support to go out in the community  
Tasks – To visit with gentleman and support to go out in the local community. To explore places that are of  interest to him        
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with a learning disability  desirable but not essential. An interest in history would be beneficial

Tasks – To visit with gentleman in his own home providing social contact over cuppa and chat.           
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with dementia desirable but not essential.

Social Buddy – ref FIND05 (20/1/23) Findochty

When – 2 hours once a fortnight       
Role – To visit with lady and support to go out in the community
Tasks – To visit with lady and support to go out in the community for coffee, walk around the shops, go for local walks    
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mental health issues desirable but not essential

Role – To visit with lady in her own home  
Tasks – To visit with lady in her own home providing social contact over cuppa and chat. To go out for coffee when health permits

Kitchen Support – ref BU168 (16/6/23)

When – Any days between Monday to Friday 10am – 2 pm         
Role – To support kitchen staff
Tasks – To support kitchen staff washing dishes, clearing tables and maintaining cleanliness in kitchen environment, support kitchen staff when needed  
Skills required – Good communication with service users and staff

Home Buddy – ref PO37 (26/6/23)

When – 1 – 2 hours once a week                                      
Role – To visit with gentleman in his own home
Tasks – To visit with gentleman in his own home for coffee and chat. To provide social contact and reduce isolation and to allow his wife some respite
Skills required – An interest in the Royal Navy and archeology would be beneficial. An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with dementia desirable but not essential

Role – To visit with gentleman in his own home for coffee and chat
Tasks – To visit with gentleman at home for coffee and chat initially. To help build confidence so gentleman feels supported to access resources in the local community
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mental health issues and mobility difficulties desirable but not essential

Social/Shopping Buddy – ref CUL24 (12/9/23)

When – 2 hours once a week                                        
Role
– To visit with lady and support to go out in the community
Tasks – To support lady to go out in the community for shopping. To have coffee and chat. To provide social contact and reduce isolation
Skills required – An interest in books, art and gardening would be beneficial

Social/Walking Buddy – ref BU179 (29/9/23)

When – 1 - 2 hours once a week                  
Role – To visit with a lady and support to go out walking  
Tasks – To visit with lady and support to go walking in the local community. To provide social contact over cuppa and chat.                                                                                
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mental health issues desirable but not essential

Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mobility difficulties and a hearing impairment desirable but not essential.

Tasks – To visit with lady in her own home providing social contact. To encourage to go out in the community to attend local crafting groups                                                        
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with autism and mental health issues desirable but not essential. An interest in crafting would be beneficial
