All of our volunteering opportunities require either a PVG (Buddies and Day Services) or Standard Disclosure (Alarm Responders) which will be paid for by Moray Council.  We also require volunteers to be reliable and committed, trustworthy and respectful, able to maintain boundaries and follow policies and procedures.  Training is available including Adult Protection.

Social/Exercise Buddy – ref EL89 (re-opened 20/2/19)

When – 2 hours once a week  
Role – To support lady to attend activities (female only)
Tasks – To support lady to attend activities in the local community. To help improve physical wellbeing. To provide companionship and to help reduce isolation. 
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with learning difficulties desirable but not essential.

When – as required, emergency situations only
Role – Community Alarm responder/keyholder for a lady – must live within 30 minutes travel time   
Tasks – call and check well being of person who has activated alarm

Walking Buddy – ref EL151 (reopened 19/5/22)

When – 2 hours once or twice a week                                                          
Role – To visit with gentleman and support to go out in the community  
Tasks – To visit with gentleman and take him out in the community in his wheelchair when weather permits. To provide social contact and reduce isolation                                          
Skills required –An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mobility difficulties (wheelchair user) desirable but not essential

Activities Buddy – ref EL182 (reopened 27/10/21)

When – 1 – 2 hrs once a week         
Role – To support lady to engage in activities in her community    
Tasks – To help lady to lead a healthy active life by accompanying her to activities that she enjoys eg swimming and to the gym.  To provide social contact and companionship.
Skills required – An awareness of difficulties experienced by people with a learning disability desirable but not essential.

When – 2 hours once a fortnight         
Role – To visit with lady in her own home  
Tasks – To visit with lady in her own home providing social contact over cuppa and chat. To go out for coffee if health permits      
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mobility difficulties desirable but not essential.

Activities Buddy – ref EL232 (16/8/16)

When – 2-3 hours per week  
Role – To support gentleman to go out in the community
Tasks – To support gentleman to participate in community based activities eg swimming, visits to the cinema. To provide social contact out with the family. 
Skills required – An awareness of difficulties experienced by people with mobility difficulties and a learning disability desirable but not essential. 

Activities/Walking Buddy – ref EL257 (reopened 25/4/22)

When – 2 hours once a week                     
Role – To support gentleman to go out in the community
Tasks – To support gentleman to attend groups or visit places that are of interest to him eg motor museum, wildlife. To provide social contact.

When – To be arranged    
Role – To improve the gardens of people in supported accommodation
Tasks – To help make accessible areas for residents and to create a sensory garden. 
Skills required – An understanding of gardening and creating new areas of interest.

Role – To support gentleman to explore activities   
Tasks – To support gentleman to explore activities that he enjoys. To provide companionship and to help improve social skills. 
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with a learning difficulty  desirable but not essential. An interest in gaming and IT would be beneficial.

Walking Buddy – ref EL396 (reopened 1/6/22)

When – 1 ½  hours once a week           
Role – To visit with lady and support to go out walking  
Tasks – To visit with lady and support to go out walking and to go for a coffee  To provide additional social contact   
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mental health issues desirable but not essential

Role – To visit with gentleman and support to go out walking  
Tasks – To visit with gentleman and support to go out walking in the local area. To explore activities in the local community and provide additional social contact
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with epilepsy, asthma and mobility difficulties desirable but not essential

Role – To support gentleman to go out in the community  
Tasks – To visit with gentleman and support to access activities in the local community. To provide some respite from his caring responsibilities. 
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with learning disability and mental health issues desirable but not essential.

Role – To support gentleman to attend football matches  
Tasks – To support gentleman to attend football matches at Elgin City FC. To help maintain social contact and reduce isolation. 
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with learning difficulties, epilepsy and a visual impairment desirable but not essential. 

Home Buddy – ref EL507 (30/8/21)

When – 2 hours once a week 
Role – To visit with gentleman in his own home for coffee and chat
Tasks – To visit with gentleman in his own home for coffee and chat. To provide social contact and reduce isolation. 
Skills required – An interest in gardening would be an advantage. An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mobility difficulties desirable but not essential. 

Social/De-clutter Buddy – ref EL512 (23/9/21)

When – 2 – 3 hours once a week   
Role – To visit with gentleman in his own home
Tasks – To visit with gentleman and support him to de-clutter his home. To have coffee and chat, providing social contact.  
Skills required – Patience, good communication skills and an awareness of Autism desirable but not essential

Tasks – To visit with lady and support out in the community, to explore local activities that may be of interest to her    
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with Huntington’s Disease, mental health issues and mobility difficulties desirable but not essential.
