All of our volunteering opportunities require either a PVG (Buddies and Day Services) or Standard Disclosure (Alarm Responders) which will be paid for by Moray Council.  We also require volunteers to be reliable and committed, trustworthy and respectful, able to maintain boundaries and follow policies and procedures.  Training is available including Adult Protection.

Alarm Responder x 1 ref EL136 (reopened 27/9/22)

When – as required, emergency situations only
Role – Community Alarm responder/keyholder for a lady – must live within 30 minutes travel time

Shopping/Admin Buddy – ref EL413 (reopened 17/9/21)

When – 2 hours once a week
Role – To support lady with shopping and admin tasks
Tasks – To support lady to go out in the community for shopping. To provide support with admin. To promote emotional wellbeing and support her nutritional needs. 
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mental health issues and mobility difficulties desirable but not essential.

Admin Buddy – ref EL422 (reopened 22/8/23)

When – 2 hours once a week (evenings preferred but flexible)         
Role – To visit with gentleman in his own home   
Tasks – To visit with gentleman in his own home and support with admin tasks. To provide social contact and reduce isolation     
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mental health issues desirable but not essential

Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mental health issues desirable but not essential. 

Social Buddy – ref EL500 (5/8/21)

When – 2 hours once a week 
Role – To visit with gentleman in his own home for coffee and chat
Tasks – To visit with gentleman at home for coffee and chat. To support to go out for a coffee when health permits. To provide social contact. 
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with a hearing impairment and mobility difficulties desirable but not essential.

When – 2 – 3 hours once a week   
Role – To visit with gentleman in his own home
Tasks – To visit with gentleman and support him to de-clutter his home. To have coffee and chat, providing social contact.  
Skills required – Patience, good communication skills and an awareness of Autism desirable but not essential

When – 2 hours once a week    
Role – To support lady to visit her husband’s grave
Tasks – To support lady to visit her husband’s grave. To have coffee and chat. To provide social contact and reduce isolation
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with short term memory desirable but not essential

Shopping Buddy – ref EL527 (20/1/22)

When – 2 hours once a week     
Role – To visit with lady and support to go shopping  
Tasks – To visit with lady and support to go to bank and to get shopping           
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mobility difficulties desirable but not essential.

Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with Huntington’s Disease, mental health issues and mobility difficulties desirable but not essential.

Social/Walking Buddy – ref EL539 (reopened 23/5/22)

When – 1 - 2 hours once a week                                            
Role – To visit with gentleman and support to go out walking  (male preferred)
Tasks – To visit with gentleman and support to go walking in the local community. To provide social contact over cuppa and chat.    
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mental health issues desirable but not essential

When – 2 hours once a week                                            
Role – To visit with gentleman in his own home  
Tasks – To visit with gentleman in his own home for coffee and chat. To provide social contact and reduce loneliness
Skills required – An awareness of difficulties experienced by people with mobility difficulties desirable but not essential. An interest in farming would be beneficial

Home Buddy – ref EL541 (19/4/22)

When – 2 hours once a week                                                                            
Role – To visit with lady in her own home  
Tasks – To visit with lady in her own home for coffee and chat. To provide social contact
Skills required – An awareness of difficulties experienced by people with dementia desirable but not essential. An interest in Scottish music and local history would be beneficial

Social/Walking Buddy – ref EL544 (13/5/22)

When – 2 hours once a week                                               
Role – To visit with gentleman and accompany out for walks  
Tasks – To visit with gentleman and accompany out walking. To explore walking groups in the local area. To provide social contact and help maintain mobility
Skills required – An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with mobility difficulties  desirable but not essential.

Skills required – An interest in musical theatre and the social history of Elgin would be beneficial. An awareness of the difficulties experienced by people with dementia desirable but not essential
