Reductions

Reductions include discounts, exemptions and other schemes such as Disability Banding Reduction. Click on the links below for more information and how to apply.

Discounts - Council Tax discount can reduce your bill by up to 50%, although some discount types are time limited. It can relate to the person(s) resident in the property e.g. one liable resident, or to the property itself, when it is not anyone's sole or main residence e.g. purpose built holiday home. In assessing residency certain categories of residents are disregarded, for example:

  • long-term patients in a hospital or a care home
  • persons in a prison
  • severely mentally impaired persons
  • certain types of care workers
