Weighbridge Operator's Licence
Licence Summary
To operate a public weighbridge, you require a certificate of competence issued by the Chief Inspector for Weights and Measures for The Moray Council.
Eligibility Criteria
You must have sufficient knowledge for the proper performance of your duties.
Anyone applying for a Certificate must pass a verbal and practical test to show they can:
a. Operate the weighbridge satisfactorily and complete any weighbridge tickets and associated documentation
b. Understand the basic terms associated with the operation of the weighbridge
c. Identify potential frauds which may unknowingly be assisted by a weighbridge operator
d. Understand the importance of accuracy when operating a weighbridge by performing simple arithmetic (use a calculator if permitted)Regulation Summary
Application Process
Contact Trading Standards on 0300 1234561 or by e-mail at tradingstandards@moray.gov.uk for an application form. Once your completed application is received, the Council will send a Trading Standards Officer to carry out a test. Once satisfied a certificate of competence will be issued within 7 days.
