The Junior or Young Scot National Entitlement Card is for young people aged 5 to 25. Visit nec.scot for more information.
The card can be used by those aged 5 to 21 to access free bus travel in Scotland. Visit freebus.scot for more information.
The card can also be used by those aged 11 to 25 to claim local, national and international discounts, and to access quality youth information. The card is also a proof of age card. Visit www.youngscot.org for more details.
The card can be used in Moray secondary schools to allow schools meals and snacks to be paid for electronically. There are machines within secondary schools which can be used to ‘top up’ the card, or the card can be credited online through our online school payments system.

Apply online at getyournec.scot No application form is required. Select either Young Person’s Free Bus Travel Scheme or Young Scot Card without Free Bus Travel. If you cannot provide the relevant digital evidence to allow you to apply online please contact Customer Services by emailing accessmoray@moray.gov.uk or phone 0300 123 4565 for further information.
The parent/carer of a child aged 5 to 10 can apply at ParentsPortal. No application form is required. Select Young Person’s Free Bus Travel.
How to apply in person for your first card
Young people who are school leavers and up to age 26 can apply at the local library. You will be asked to complete this form and provide proof of age and address.
Children and young people attending a Moray primary or secondary school can apply using forms available from the school office.

How to add free bus travel to an existing card
Young people aged 16 to 21 can download free bus travel onto an existing card using the Transport Scotland Pass Collect app. This means you might not need to apply for a new card to access free bus travel. Find out how to use the app.

How to use the card to access free bus travel
The electronic chip in the card will allow you to access free bus travel if you or your parent/guardian have consented to the scheme.
Make sure you have your card with you when you get on the bus. Tell the bus driver where you are going then tap your card on the electronic card reader. The smart technology will take care of the rest.
Children under 5 years old already travel free on buses and don’t need a card.
How to remove free bus travel to an existing card
You can request to remove free bus travel from a card online at getyournec.scot. You can also contact Customer Services by emailing accessmoray@moray.gov.uk or phone 0300 123 4565.
The card will be “hotlisted” (blocked) and will not be accepted on buses, but you can still use the card to access other Young Scot benefits.
You will be sent a replacement card that does not have free bus travel. You should destroy your old card when you receive your replacement card.
