Birth, Death or marriage and civil partnership certificates

Fee at time of registration or within one month of registration

The cost of a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership extract in Scotland if the registration date is still within its first month is £10.

Fees applicable after one month of registration

Extracts out with the first month will cost £15 for the first copy, with each additional copy of the same certificate costing £10.

An abbreviated certificate shows minimal information and a full certificate shows exactly what is recorded on the register page. There may be additional charges, if certificates are required to be posted.

Moray Registration Service 2024/25 Ceremony Fees (set by Moray Council)

With effect from 1 April 2024 the fees set by us are:

Civil Ceremony within the Council’s Marriage Room
In addition to the above statutory marriage fees (as shown above) during a civil ceremony in the marriage room we apply a surcharge for:

• the use of the Marriage Room
• at a ceremony held on a Saturday, a surcharge for an authorised Registrar to conduct the ceremony

Civil Ceremony Fees - Registration Office

A non-refundable booking fee deposit of £80 is required at time of booking; however, the deposit will be deducted from fees due.

Civil Ceremony Fee – Other Venues

A surcharge is applied for an authorised Registrar to conduct a civil marriage in an external venue.
