Moray Self Build Register
Self-build housing is defined as being where an individual or group of individuals is personally involved in the design and construction of a house (or group of houses) that is intended to be the individuals main residence once built. It provides choice and the ability to tailor housing to suit an individual’s needs.
The Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 (Section 16 E) requires planning authorities to prepare and maintain a list of people interested in acquiring land in the authority’s area for self-build housing and to publish that information. The register will help provide an evidence base on the demand for self-build in Moray, the type of plots sought and the type of homes it is intended to build. This will be used to develop future planning policy and designations within the Local Development Plan.
The register will be updated periodically to reflect new registrations.
Being on the Self-Build Register is not a requirement for planning consent and registration does not guarantee that a suitable plot will be identified or become available for you.
