Draft Moray Woodland and Forestry Strategy

Moray Council working in partnership with the Forestry Commission Scotland, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Scottish Natural Heritage and Moray Speyside Tourism has prepared the Draft Moray Woodland and Forestry Strategy.

The strategy is intended to identify the key issues affecting forestry in Moray, highlight the opportunities that exist across the sector, increase the profile of current activities and guide woodland creation to appropriate locations over the next 20 years.

The document is framed around 3 key themes.

  • Harnessing the potential of our woodlands
  • Connecting people and communities to our woodlands
  • Protecting and enhancing our woodlands

The strategy has now been issued for public consultation for a 12 week period.

Also available is the accompanying Habitats Regulation Assessment (HRA)  and SEA Environmental Report.

The consultation period extends from Monday 27 February 2017  to Friday 19 May 2017.  All comments should be received by 5pm on Friday 19 May 2017 and can be emailed to localdevelopmentplan@moray.gov.uk  or in writing to Planning and Development, Moray Council, Council Offices, High Street, Elgin, PO Box 6760, Elgin, IV30 9BX.
