Design Quality

We are required to adopt a consistent and relevant approach to the assessment of design and place quality as set out by the Scottish Planning Authority.

We have introduced a quality audit process to support placemaking in the Moray Local Development Plan 2015.

The audit consists of 12 categories which are categorised by movement, buildings and open space/landscaping and should be used alongside our Urban Design Supplementary Guide

Applicants are encouraged to complete the quality audit which will be assessed by officers from planning, transportation and housing to inform consultees' responses to development proposals. Advice on how to complete the quality audit can be found in the guidelines (PDF). Where an applicant does not submit a quality audit, we will assess the development proposals according to the proposals set out in the quality audit.
