Temporary Restrictions

Before closing a road or footpath or introducing a one-way system, a prohibition of waiting, a weight limit or a speed limit on any public road for any purpose, you must apply for permission and submit your application form with the correct fee (Word).

 Application Form (Word)

Please allow at least 14 days for us to process and issue a permit for temporary restrictions of up to and including five days duration. For a duration of six days or greater, please allow at least 28 days for us to process and issue a permit, as they must be advertised locally before the restriction can be put in place.

If you are applying to close a road for an event, please allow at least two months for us to process your application as in some cases we will need to seek approval from the Scottish Government to close the road.
