Placing Requests
Make a placing request NB. For uploads, individual files should not exceed 5MB. Accepted files: jpg, png, pdf, zip.
A placing request is required to be completed where you wish your child to attend a school that is not their zoned catchment school.
Review your primary school catchment, secondary school catchment and denominational catchment areas.
If you wish your child to attend a denominational school, and your child does not have a Roman Catholic Baptismal Certificate you will be required to complete a Placing Request also.
Please note: placing requests will only be granted once places have been given to children living in the catchment area.
You should make your placing request online. If you require a paper version of the form, please telephone or email your local catchment school. Further guidance can be found in the Placing Request Guidance Leaflet (PDF).

Registering at a Moray school for the first time?
Please use our School Registration Form, which will capture details of the placing request. A placing request will be required in the following circumstances;
- You wish your child to attend a school which is not their zoned catchment school
- You wish your child to attend a Denominational school, but your child does not have a Roman Catholic Baptismal Certificate.
The school registration will gather the required information from you in both scenarios, if your child is not already attending a Moray school. Please note:placing requests will only be granted once places have been given to children living in the catchment area.
Transferring between Moray schools?
If your child is already registered and attending a Moray school, you will be required to use our Placing Request form.
Instances where this form should be used include:
- P7 pupil looking to register at a secondary school for an August start (requested school is not within catchment area)
- existing Moray school pupil (primary or secondary) wishing to move to an alternative school during the school year.
