Shared Lives Carers
Our Shared Lives Carers
Shared Lives Carers are carefully selected and comprehensively assessed and trained by the Moray Council Shared Lives Service. They receive regular support from the Shared Lives Officer and their homes have been assessed to meet the National Care Standards. A home safety check is also carried out to ensure issues of health and safety have been taken into account.
Could you become a Shared Lives Carer?
Want to work for yourself? Choose when you work? Be based in your own home?
Want to be paid for doing something rewarding and enjoyable? Could you make a difference to the lives of individuals and families in your area?
We are looking for individuals to provide a special kind of support. They would help adults with a variety of needs, to develop their potential, and get the most out of life.
As a Shared Lives Carer, working on a self-employed basis, you would need to share your home and your day-to-day life. Could you provide a comfortable, friendly “home from home” for one or two adults at a time – perhaps for just a day or overnight?
See our Shared Lives Carers poster.
What kind of support might be needed?
Service users may require:
● Help with personal care e.g. washing and dressing
● Help to learn new life skills or regain old ones
● Opportunities to get out and about into the local community. Support to enjoy social activities - anything from walks, trips to local cafes or shops, to joining in at local clubs.
You don’t need qualifications to be a Shared Lives Carer, just a friendly, caring nature and a flexible approach.
In return, once you’ve undergone the recruitment process, you’ll receive free training and ongoing support from the Shared Lives Team.
You’ll be working for yourself but will be contracted to work for the Moray Council and be paid for the care you provide.
