Publication Scheme - Charges

Charges

This section explains when we may make a charge for our publications and how any charge will be calculated.

There is no charge to view information on our website or at our premises except where there is a statutory fee, for example, for access to registers. You can see a full list of our statutory fees here (PDF)

We may charge for providing information to you e.g., photocopying and postage, but we will charge you no more than it actually costs us to do so. We will always tell you what the cost is before providing the information to you.

Changes to publication scheme charges

Fees for publication scheme information may be subject to change after council approval.    Any changes to fees set out in this scheme must be submitted to the Office of the Scottish Information Commissioner who reserves the right to approve or reject the revised scheme.  Any changes to fees will not be reflected in the publication scheme until they have been approved by the Commissioner – you will be charged the fees as set out in the approved scheme.

When providing copies of pre-printed publications, we will charge no more than the cost per copy of the total print run. We do not pass any other costs on to you in relation to our published information.

This charging schedule does not apply to our commercial publications (see Class 8 ). These items are offered for sale through retail outlets such as book shops, academic journal websites or museum shops and their price reflects a ‘market value’ which may include the cost of production.

Unless a charge is otherwise indicated all information contained within our scheme is available from us free of charge where it can be downloaded from our website or where it can be sent to you electronically by email.

We do not make any charge for the inspection of any of the information which is made available via the classes in this publication scheme.

We reserve the right to impose charges for providing information in paper copy or computer disc / alternative formats.  The Moray Council is mindful of its obligations under equality and anti-discrimination legislation when setting charges for alternative formats.  Charges will reflect the actual costs of reproduction and postage to the authority.
