Under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, I request the following information relating to short-term lets within the Moray Council area:

1. The number of complaints received by the council regarding short-term lets (including Airbnb-style accommodation), broken down by year, from 1 January 2019 to the present date.

2. A breakdown of these complaints by type, where recorded (e.g. noise, anti-social behaviour, parking, safety concerns, etc.).

3. The number of enforcement actions taken in relation to short-term lets over the same period, broken down by year.

4. A breakdown of enforcement actions by type (e.g. warnings issued, licence refusals, licence revocations, fines, or legal action).

5. The number of short-term let licences granted, refused, or revoked since the introduction of the licensing scheme.

Response 11-05-2026

1. The total for the period of time specified is 5.

To break down the response for each year would result in low numbers (between 1 and 5), which  may lead to the identification of individuals. Therefore this part of the response is exempt under Section 38(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 – personal information.

2. Categories included: anti-social behaviour, parking, nuisance and safety concerns

3. & 4. Nil

5. The public register is available via our webpages and this information is therefore exempt under section 25 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, information otherwise accessible.
