1. We are seeking information regarding the time allocated to mentors to undertake the role of training student teachers

2. And any support provided to mentors in undertaking this role.

1. This varies according to the school context. In secondaries, it would be 2x50 minute meetings, one with their subject mentor and one with the Teacher Regent. In primary schools it varies and would be at least several half an hour meetings per week, dependent on the needs of the student teacher.

2. The universities send school staff the relevant handbooks and give appropriate CLPL opportunities as well as regular communications on expectations at the particular stage of the placement. Support is also available from the appropriate Lead Central Local Authority Officer as it is required.
