FOI Request - Domestic Abuse Services Funding

This request relates to the local authority’s funding and commissioning of specialist domestic abuse services, particularly those run by or in affiliation with Women’s Aid member organisations or other women-only services.

Please provide the following, for each financial year from 2020/21 through to 2025/26 (including current allocations and future planned budgets

1. Funding Amounts
a) The total amount of funding allocated by the local authority to Women’s Aid organisations and any other women-only domestic abuse services, in each of the above financial years.
b) Please include actual figures for 2020/21 through to 2024/25 and confirmed or projected figures for 2025/26 (if available).

2. Funding Purpose
a) A breakdown of the funding provided by service type (e.g. refuge accommodation, outreach services, advocacy, helplines, community-based support, children’s services, etc.)

3. Funding & Service Changes
a) Details of any funding reductions or increases in funding to Women’s Aid organisations or other women-only domestic abuse services during the above period. For each change, please include:
i) The amount changed
ii) The year of the change
iii) The reason provided for the change (e.g. budgetary pressures, policy change, end of contract, etc.)

b) Details of any planned or proposed reductions or increases for the current or upcoming financial year (2025/26).

c) Details of including copies of or links to any Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) conducted in relation to any of the funding changes mentioned above.

d) Details of any changes since 2020/21 in the scope of domestic abuse or violence against women services in your area (e.g. change of service provider, expansion or contraction of existing services).

4. Commissioning and Tendering
a) In the last five years (from 2019 to present), has the local authority commissioned or tendered domestic abuse or violence against women and girls (VAWG) services on a gender-neutral basis (i.e. open to all genders rather than women-only provision)?

b) If yes, please provide:
i) The contract title/description
ii) Date of tender/award
iii) Contract length and total funding amount
iv) The name of the organisation awarded the contract
v) Whether any Women’s Aid organisations bid for the contract
vi) The outcome of any such bids
