Scope and timeframe

Please provide the following recorded information for academic years 2015/16 to 2024/25 (year-to-date) for local-authority schools:

A. Exclusions (annual):
• Temporary/fixed-period exclusions: counts by phase (Primary/Secondary/Special) and by your reason categories (service-level totals).
• Permanent exclusions (if applicable): counts by phase.
• Days lost to temporary exclusions (service-level totals), if routinely reported.

B. Persistent exclusion measure (service-level):
• The definition/threshold you use for “persistent” exclusions (e.g., =3 temporary exclusions in an academic year, or your local equivalent).
• Annual count of pupils meeting the persistence threshold.

C. Managed moves (annual):
• Managed moves initiated and managed moves completed, by phase (service-level totals).
• If recorded, outcome categories (e.g., sustained placement, returned, alternative provision).

D. Coding and policy:
• The reason codes list/definitions used for exclusions.
• Current policy/guidance on exclusions and managed moves.

Format
Please supply data in CSV or XLSX. Fields such as academic_year, phase, reason_category, temporary_exclusions, permanent_exclusions, days_lost, managed_moves_initiated, managed_moves_completed, persistence_threshold_definition, pupils_persistent_count would be helpful.

If this may exceed the section 12 cost limit, please advise under section 15 how I can refine it—for example, limiting reason categories to those you routinely report, or providing service-level totals without phase splits.
