FOI Request - Equally Safe Curriculum and Training Changes

As per the Scottish Government Equally Safe Strategy 2024, which commits to

"Ensure that all key secondary school staff undertake the Equally Safe at School e-learning module." please can you confirm  

1.  How many secondary school staff are expected to complete the Equally Safe at School e-learning module with the Moray local authority

2.  How many secondary staff within the Moray local authority have completed the module to date.

As per the same strategy, which commits to  

“ensure that learning about online safety in all local authorities includes reference to technology facilitated” and “ensure that all local authorities review their relationships, sexual health and parenthood (RSHP) curriculum to ensure that it includes learning about equalities and gender-based violence.” please can you confirm  

3.  If the Moray local authority curriculum currently features learning about equalities, gender-based violence, and reference to technology facilitated VAWG  

4.  If not, what progress has been made towards implementing these subjects into the curriculum  

5.  What support has been received from the Scottish Government in this regard

Response 15-09-2025

1. All staff are expected to complete it. Staff have this term to undertake the module if they have not already completed it. Training is currently being undertaken across all 8 secondary schools this term.

2. As at 1st September, approx. 200 members of staff had completed this across all 8 schools.

3. RSHP is undertaken in all schools with additional materials used to support in secondary schools. All 8 secondary schools are embedding the MVP programme, with several schools now on their third year of implementation, with staff recently identified to become train the trainers. Further inputs have been developed within the curriculum including Misogyny, Manosphere. Other programmes/supports include See Me See Change, Young Minds, SHARE, Moray Rape Crisis
 

4. PSE programme is regularly reviewed and will be further reviewed throughout this session

5. In Moray there is an Equally Safe Development Co-ordinator supporting training and curriculum developments.
