Under the Freedom of Information Act, for each of the past three financial years (April to March) 2022/23, 2023/24, and 2024/25, please could you provide me with:

  •  the number of complaints about books in the collections of the council's libraries
  •  the number of requests for removal for books in the collections of the council's libraries
  •  the titles of books the above complaints or requests for removal relate to
  •  the number of reports of damage to books held in council library collections
  •  the titles of books damaged
  •  the number of complaints about books in local authority school library collections
  •  the number of requests for removal for books in local authority school library collections
  •  the titles of books the above complaints or requests for removal relate to

For the timeframe detailed above, we have not had any formal complaints requesting materials be removed because of content or inappropriateness in the timeframe.

We have a stock management process that sees books regularly withdrawn from stock for any number of reasons (no longer required, out of date, lost etc.); those reasons are not recorded separately. Information that is not held falls under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - Information not held.

There have be no instances of damage due to items being defaced or damaged due to content. 

Schools have not received any complaints or requests to remove books.
