FOI Request – Violence in Schools

I would like to know the answer to the below questions regarding the recent rise in violence against teachers in schools.

1. How many violent incidents have been recorded by Moray Council since 2021 till the present day on a year on year basis.

The incidents I am looking for is violence across primary schools and secondary schools pupil v's teacher. e.g each incident where a pupil has committed a violent offence against a teacher.

2. following on from the question above, how many of the incidents have been committed by a child/young person that has an additional support need or is on the neurodevelopment pathway?

3. How are these incidents recorded?

2025 (to date) - 503

2. We would have to read through every pupil file to get this information. This task would cost the Council in excess of £600 of staff time. In accordance with section 12 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (excessive cost), we are therefore unable to comply with this part of the request.

3. Incidents are recorded via an online portal and in individual pupil files.
