Please can you provide a breakdown of the following for each of the past 10 academic years, and for each primary and secondary school:

1.  Number of times weapons have been reported to have been taken to school by a pupil

2.  Incidents of pupil violence

• Incidents of pupil violence against member of school staff
• The number of recorded physical assaults by pupils

3.  The number of pupils given temporary exclusions

4.  The number of pupils given conditional exclusions

5.  The number of pupils given permanent exclusions

Please note, conditional and permanent exclusions are not recorded separately so we would have to read through thousands of pupil files to get this information. This task would cost the Council in excess of £600 of staff time. In accordance with section 12 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (excessive cost), we are therefore unable to comply with this part of the request.
