FOI Request - Gender Neutral Toilets
Request 101003719009
1. In each year since 2019-20, including the current year to date, how much has this organisation spent on the construction of gender neutral or mixed sex bathrooms. I would define this as any bathroom which can be used by either men or women, as opposed to single-sex bathrooms. Please provide data for all buildings including council offices, schools etc.

1. In terms of spend on schools since 2019, there are 2 new schools (Lossiemouth HS and Linkwood PS) that have designed gender neutral toilets i.e. floor to ceiling self-contained cubicles. To determine the actual specific costs within the overall new build budgets for these two new builds would cost the Council in excess of £600 of staff time. In accordance with section 12 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (excessive cost), we are therefore unable to comply with this part of the request.
However, we confirm that this was a more cost-effective design to deliver than specific male and female toilets.
The only other school where we have undertaken toilet upgrades (which included gender neutral designed toilets) is Forres Academy at a total project cost of £172k
I would also refer to previous responses on this that are already available online with respect to gender neutral toilets in Moray schools

2. Not held. Due to the way our system records works to toilets within our buildings it does not differentiate between male, female, accessible, gender neutral toilets, therefore we do not hold the information requested. Information that is not held falls under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - Information not held.
