What assessment have you made of any upgrades that may be needed in future to the infrastructure of core paths, broken down by section, as well as the date that the repair work (a) was first identified as required and (b) is projected to be completed by, as well as the associated costs.

In June 2023 a report titled Core Paths Action Plan 2023 - 2026 was presented to the Council’s Economic Development And Infrastructure Services Committee. This report contains the results of an audit of all the Core Paths carried out over a period of 9 months from July 2022 to March 2023 and advised on the condition of features on each of the paths, and informing what specific issues and defects need to be addressed using the funding made available through developer contributions.  The data gathered on path features allowed them to be rated on a traffic light scheme of red, yellow and green in terms of condition.  Due to the number of core paths, it was agreed to make every prioritised (red) Core Path as accessible as possible through small scale works across the network by addressing deteriorating paths and improvements needed to remove barriers to accessibility through the delivery of the Core Path Action Plan 2023-2026.  On the completion of this Action Plan, a further plan will be developed to build on what has been completed and prioritise future works.
