Living Streets WOW

Since 2015 Moray Council has been working with primary schools to install the Living Streets WOW – the year-round walk to school challenge - and Travel Tracker programme. Travel Tracker is an interactive tool for recording how primary children travel to school on a daily basis. It offers an incentive programme for pupils to travel actively as well as related classroom resources and integrates the recorded data into Curriculum for Excellence activities. Travel Tracker not only provides data on how the children travel on a daily basis throughout the year (in contrast to the once a year snapshot of Hands Up Scotland Survey), but allows good comparison with other local authority areas too. Data from Travel Tracker is also useful when schools produce a School Travel Plan as it is a readily available source of data on how pupils travel to school, which can help identify aims as part of the STP. The partnership between Moray Council and Living Streets Scotland continues to progress the active travel agenda in Moray schools and supports the Moray Council Active Travel Strategy.

If you are interested in signing up to WOW / Travel Tracker for your school, please get in touch at schooltravel@moray.gov.uk.
