I request the following for each local authority in Scotland over the last five academic years:
1. The number of temporary classrooms or portacabins in use in primary and secondary schools.
2. The total cost associated with purchasing, leasing, or maintaining these structures.
Response 03-02-2025
1. a) Temporary classroom in use at Elgin High School. Single unit with 2x30 pupil standard classrooms
b) Portacabin modular unit at New Elgin Primary School
2. a) Elgin High School - Purchase and installation (2023) - cost £329,381.80 for purchase and installation with circa £5k/ yr to cover insurance and intruder alarm monitoring.
b) New Elgin - Purchased and installation (2013) - unable to find purchase cost information. No specific maintenance record (or costs) as considered as part of main school site. Information that is not held falls under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - Information not held.
