In relation to your council’s Early Learning Centres and schools:

1.  In each of the past five years, how many instances of violence by pupils occurred against (a) Pupil Support Assistants, (b) cleaners and janitors, (c) caterers, (d) Early Years Practitioners, (e) Teachers, and (f) all other school staff e.g. Head Teachers and Deputy Heads.

2.  In each of the past five years, how many instances of violence occurred against staff in (a) ELCs, (b) Primary Schools, (c) Secondary Schools, and (d) Additional Support schools?

3.  In each of the past five years, how many instances of violence by pupils against staff occurred in each school and ELC?

4.  In each of the past five years, how many violence instances by pupils against staff resulted in an injury being sustained by a member of staff?

5.  In each of the past five years, how many instances of violence by pupils against staff occurred by year group/stage e.g. N3 to S6?

6.  In each of the past five years, how many instances of violence by pupils against staff occurred where the pupil (a) did, and (b) did not have additional support needs?

7.  In each of the past five years, of violent instances by pupils against staff, how many were committed by (a) males, and (b) females.

4.-6. To answer these question we would have to search through thousands of pupil and staff files. This task would cost the Council in excess of £600 of staff time. In accordance with section 12 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (excessive cost), we are therefore unable to comply with this part of the request.
