1. Information confirming, by name, which Apps and AI software are currently being used in schools in your local education authority area;

2. Information confirming whether these Apps are being used in pre-school, primary or secondary education settings;

3. Information confirming the annual subscription cost of using each App or AI software in the case of subscription services; and

4. A copy of the Data Privacy Impact Assessment that has been undertaken by you or on your behalf as a local education authority in respect of each App or AI Software currently in use.

Clarification received 06-12-2024: By App, I mean an Application in terms of a software program that is designed to perform a specific function directly to the user, e.g. to a pupil and/or teacher in connection with the provision of education, or for another software programme in use in the education setting. One example might be Curipod; another might be ClassDojo.

Other software applications may be in use which do not require the use of personal to operate or are currently in the DPIA review process.  It should also be noted that the applications listed are not static with products constantly reviewed, new applications added, and others removed as appropriate.

2. Applications are not restricted or limited to a specific educational setting and are used as appropriate to the age and stage of the learners.

3. This information is commercially sensitive. Disclosure of the requested information could substantially prejudice commercial interests and so it is exempt under section 33(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, commercial interests.

4. This information is exempt from release under Section 30(c) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - Prejudice to effective conduct of public affairs and 
Section 33(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, commercial interests.
