FOI Request - Erosion Near Yardie, Buckie
Request 101003679860
I am writing to highlight the ongoing issue of erosion and damage to the public walkway and sea wall along the historic Speyside Way.
While temporary measures, such as a cone and fencing, have been put in place, the ongoing erosion and neglect of repairs pose potential long-term risks, and implications including:
• Safety Hazards: The damage creates a risk for pedestrians, particularly on this well-frequented section of the Speyside Way.
• Further Erosion: Without prompt attention, the existing issues may exacerbate, leading to costlier interventions in the future.
• Impact on Local Heritage and Tourism: The Yardie and its surrounding area are of historic and cultural significance. Maintaining its appeal is essential for the community and local economy.
In light of these concerns, I respectfully request the following information:
1. Timeline of Actions: Details of any past reports or complaints, and the actions taken since the first incident/accident was reported.
2. Planned Repairs: Confirmation of when permanent repairs will be initiated to address both the structural and safety concerns.
3. Future Maintenance: Plans to ensure the sustainability and preservation of this vital part of the Yardie and the Speyside Way.
