FOI Request - Assaults On Teachers

Under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, I wish to request the following information:

1.  In the last five financial years, how many assaults have been recorded against (a) Teachers (b) Support staff and (c) Pupils in (i) Primary schools and (ii) Secondary schools.

2.  In terms of these assaults, how many were recorded as (a) Physical abuse (b) Verbal abuse broken down by both primary schools and secondary schools.

3.  What is the longest period of time in each of the last five financial years that a teacher has been absent from work as a result of an assault?

4.  In the last five financial years, how many of these assaults have featured the use of a weapon against a (a) Teacher (b) Support staff or (c) Pupils in both (I) Primary school or (ii) secondary school.

3. To answer this question the records of each member of staff would have to be looked at individually. This would cost the Council in excess of £600. In accordance with section 12 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, excessive cost, we are therefore unable to comply with this part of your request.
