1.  The number of schools (primary and high schools) in the local authority.

2.  The number of schools (primary and high schools) in the local authority that have banned the use of mobile phones for pupils.

3.  The number of mobile phones confiscated from pupils in the council’s primary schools in EACH of the last three full academic years.

4.  The number of mobile phones confiscated from pupils in the council’s secondary schools in EACH of the last three full academic years.

5.  How many reports, including complaints, has the council received in EACH of the last three full academic years of primary pupils being bullied by fellow school pupils via online methods (i.e. mobile phone messaging, social media, email etc.)?

6. How many reports, including complaints, has the council received in EACH of the last three full academic years of secondary pupils being bullied by fellow school pupils via online methods (i.e. mobile phone messaging, social media, email etc.)?
 

Response 24-10-2024

1. Primary - 44; Secondary - 8
2. Pupils are permitted to take mobiles to school but they must be switched off during class times.
3 & 4. Any incidents would be recorded in a pupil's file.We would have to search through each file and this task would cost the Council in excess of £600 of staff time. In accordance with section 12 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (excessive cost), we are therefore unable to comply with this part of the request.
