3. Documentation that details how household waste was disposed of in 2023

4. Information on whether the waste disposal sites used (landfills, incineration plants, recycling centres, etc) are owned and operated by the council or privately

5. Information on any ongoing or planned efforts to minimise municipal waste

6. Any economic benefits that currently are or theoretically would be derived from minimising municipal waste

2. We report all our waste transactions to SEPA quarterly. They publish these figures annually for the public to review. The report for 2023 is due release later this month. All recyclable materials are sent off to private companies, details above in Q3.

5. We engage with some national promotional events such as the upcoming International E Waste day.

6. The obvious economic benefits from minimising waste would be reduced disposal costs such as landfill tax or EfW plant gate fees. Plus the more we can divert from disposal to recycling may see a financial benefit due to possible income for the materials, although this would fluctuate due to market demands. Also, the cost of disposal of recycling materials is usually lower than the tonnage rate for landfill tax/EfW gate fees.
