FOI Request - Speech Therapy For Children Of Service Personnel
Request 101003612705
As part of our ongoing research into whether children of service personnel / armed force families (British Army, Navy, Royal Airforce etc.) are less likely to access speech and language therapy, particularly children who stammer. The aim of this research is to determine whether there are any potential barriers that Armed Forces families may face in getting access to the necessary support for their children’s speech and language needs.
We believe that any data or insights you could provide would significantly contribute to helping us understand and support these children better.
To this end, we would greatly appreciate your responses to the following questions:
1. Approximately what percentage of your student population are children of service personnel?
2. Is speech and language therapy provision available at your school and would this service be available for children who stammer?
3. Are there any potential barriers faced by service children in accessing speech and language therapy compared to non service children?
4. How does your school support service children who stammer who may need to transition schools or move locations frequently? What measures are in place to ensure continuity of care and therapy?
