FOI Request - Short-Term Lets

May I please request the following information:

1. the number of short-term lets (STL) that were operating in the Local Authority before October 1, 2022, or an estimate of this number if no exact figure is known.

2. the number of short-term lets that are currently in operation in the Local Authority, broken down by the number of short-term let licence applicants who have had their application for a licence approved and the number of applicants who are operating because they submitted their application before 1 October 2023 and have yet to have their application determined.

Response 12-08-2024

1. Not held. There was no verifiable information available on the number of short term lets in any particular area prior to the instigation of the STL licensing regime. The only estimate available was from the Scottish Government, calculating approx. 615 STLs in the Moray area. Information that is not held falls under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - Information not held.

2. The actual number of applications etc. is information otherwise available and therefore exempt under section 25 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, information otherwise accessible. Quarterly statistics are produced and published as a downloadable file on the Moray Council website.
