FOI Request - Budget to Help Quit Smoking

1.  How much budget is allocated to helping people in the local community quit smoking each year? Please provide the most up to date information possible, either for 2023 or 2024. We define 'quit smoking' as any campaigns, marketing, events, health services, resources, or groups in the local area that are specifically created to help people on their journey to quitting smoking and how much this costs the council each year, either for 2023 or 2024?

2.  Do you offer free 'e-cigarettes' or Vapes as part of your quit smoking strategy?

Update 30-07-2024

1. Moray Council does not directly offer support to individuals to stop smoking. This support is provided by NHS Grampian and by Pharmacy services. The funding for this is provided by the Scottish Government. 

2. NHS Grampian and Pharmacy services do not offer e-cigs / vapes as part of a quit smoking strategy, and only offer via prescription the evidence based licensed products ie Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT).
