1)  The number of children who went missing from children’s residential care ran by the local authority in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Can the data be categorised in calendar years please.

2)  The number of those children given in the response to question 1) who were deemed at risk of criminal exploitation in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Can the data be categorised in calendar years please.

3) The youngest age of a child who went missing from residential care ran by the local authority in 2023, how long they were missing and their gender.

4) The longest amount of time a child was missing from residential care ran by the local authority in 2023, their age and gender.

Response 25-06-2024

1) The number of children who went missing from children's residential care ran by the local authority in 2021:
2021 - 38 times they have been reported to the police for not being at home/missing person.
2022 - 48 times they have been reported to the police for not being at home/missing person.
CSE - was reported 31 times although these where linked to the reports of not being at home.
2023- 40 times they have been reported to the police for not being at home/missing person.
CSE - was reported 11 times although these where linked to the reports of not being at home.

2) Not held. Criminal exploitation has not been a marker that we have used for our young people. Information that is not held falls under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - Information not held.

3) Due to the low numbers involved, release of this information could result in the identification of individuals. This information is therefore exempt under Section 38(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - Personal Information. 

4) The longest amount of time a child was missing from residential care ran by the local authority was 36 hours. Release of any further information could result in the identification of individuals. This information is therefore exempt under Section 38(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - Personal Information.
