FOI Request - Incidents of Violence by Pupils in School

1) The number of times school or council staff in the local authority area have contacted police in relation to an incident of violence, aggression and/or abuse by a pupil in a school in the area in each of the last five years.

2) Details of the system used by school staff to report/record incidents of violence, aggression and/or abuse by pupils in the local authority area.

3) The number of incidents reported/recorded under that system in each of the last five years, broken down by school.

Response 25-03-2024

1) Any incidents would be recorded in the member of staff's file. We would have to read through every file. This task would cost the Council in excess of £600 of staff time. In accordance with section 12 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (excessive cost), we are therefore unable to comply with this part of the request.

2) Up until February 2023, staff completed a paper violence & aggression incident report form which was sent to HQ and the information from each form typed into a spreadsheet. Since then, staff complete an eform which was created by the Council's ICT department.
