Request 101003173484

Is it possible to ask
1. what new segregated cycle path provision has been provided in Moray over the last five years and
2. what is planned over the next five years please?

Response 22-11-2022

Moray Council have recently approved a new 5 year Active Travel Strategy, which includes our aims and objectives for increasing the Active Travel network across Moray, but does not include specific projects. These will be determined through ongoing community consultation and feedback by delivering Active Travel Masterplans as part of the local development plan. Projects will be scored through a prioritisation tool which will allow us a fair and transparent process for prioritising projects based on need, demand, usage, cost and deliverability.

As part of the new Active Travel Strategy we are currently mapping the council’s entire Active Travel Network. The way we do that is by identifying various elements, such as surface (tarmac, rough unbound, smooth unbound, etc) and type of path (for instance ‘path adjacent to carriageway’, ‘cycle path remote’, ‘marked on carriageway’ and ‘unmarked on carriageway’). We do not specify ‘segregated cycle path’ in itself. However, 'marked on carriageway' cycle paths would be the information you are looking for. In total we have a distance of 3.5km. These are located on the east side of Forres Victoria Road, Lossie Wynd Elgin and in Kinloss. All were constructed prior to the last 5years. We also have an additional 53km of adjacent cycle tracks and 141km of detached/ remote cycle tracks.
