Response 12-08-2022

1. We follow the guidance as set out in the Supporting Children’s Learning: Code of Practice (revised 2010) which includes worked examples of application of criteria.
To determine whether there is one or more complex factors or multiple factors that would mean a child requires a CSP we gather evidence from the supporting agencies and the Team around Child (TAC). The attached reviewing tool is used to support assessment. The additional support needs must require the provision of significant additional support from an education authority and (a) the local authority exercising their functions other than education (e.g. social services) and/or (b) one of more appropriate agencies.

2. The information to be assessed is provided by the TAC and includes details of the frequency and duration of support required, and how the support contributes to the achievement of educational objectives. Case studies to support the application of the criteria are included in Annex C of the Code of Practice.
