2. The total number of claims for hand-arm vibration syndrome (also known as  "vibration white finger") for the financial year 2021/22 for which you have paid compensation.

3. What plans (if any) you have to use modern technology for road works and repairs to avoid hand-arm vibration syndrome (also known as "vibration white finger").

Response 18-05-2022

1. Nil

2. Nil

3. Plant and tools are continuously reviewed and new technology implemented where there is a business case to do so. When purchasing new plant, vibration figures are considered as an important part of the purchase decision in order to minimise exposure and wherever reasonably possible exposure to vibration is also minimised by the inclusion of mechanical aids as part of the risk assessment associated with relevant tasks.
Note: A modern vibration monitoring solution - wrist straps - is being investigated by H&S (discussed at recent HAVS Audit) but this will be a Council wide solution.
