FOI Request - Squalor
Request 101002816609
I am searching for any reports, research or policy documents produced by your council into individuals living in squalid conditions, or classed as having Diogenes Syndrome or extreme self-neglect.
Response 05-07-21
The Housing Service does not have a policy for managing individuals living in squalid conditions, or classed as having Diogenes Syndrome or extreme self-neglect. This information is therefore exempt under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - Information Not Held.
A report was taken to the Communities Committee on 27 August 2019 seeking permission to add a new "Housing Inspector" post to the staffing structure to help address the poor condition of some council properties. This report briefly made reference to hoarding becoming more prevalent. The service has still to go back to Committee providing the full scope of the job description and costings.
