FOI Request - Religious Schools

Request 101002397045

I am currently doing research regarding religious schools and teaching within such institutions. I would like the following information from you from the current school year 2019-2020.
1: How many denominational schools are there within your council area? Please break these figures down into primary and secondary schools.
2: How many non-denominational schools are there within your council area? Please break these figures down into primary and secondary schools.
3: How many teachers are in each school? Please break down these figures by stating the name of the school and how many teaching staff it has.
4: How many teachers in your denominational schools possess a Catholic Teaching Certificate (or equivalent depending on denomination) and how many do not? Please list a breakdown of schools, how many teachers have the CTC and how many do not within each school.
5: Is it a requirement within your local authority that all teachers working in denominational schools have approval from the Church (or appropriate body) and does this mean that a teacher without this certificate will never work in a religious school in your local authority on a permanent basis?
6: How many teachers are employed in your local authority all together – including supply teachers in this figure please.

Response 04-03-2020

1: How many denominational schools are there within your council area? Please break these figures down into primary and secondary schools. 3 Primary schools
2: How many non-denominational schools are there within your council area? Please break these figures down into primary and secondary schools.  8 secondary schools and 41 primary
3: How many teachers are in each school? Please break down these figures by stating the name of the school and how many teaching staff it has. See document here.
4: How many teachers in your denominational schools possess a Catholic Teaching Certificate (or equivalent depending on denomination) and how many do not? Please list a breakdown of schools, how many teachers have the CTC and how many do not within each school.
A school-by-school breakdown of this data is not possible as the low numbers involved can lead to the identification of individuals - this information is therefore exempt under Section 38(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - personal information. However, we can offer total numbers:

Teachers with a CTC: 10
Teachers who do not have a CTC: 10

5: Is it a requirement within your local authority that all teachers working in denominational schools have approval from the Church (or appropriate body) and does this mean that a teacher without this certificate will never work in a religious school in your local authority on a permanent basis? A number of staff having permanent contracts and work in a denominational school covering aspects such as support for learning and McCrone cover, visiting specialists etc. As an authority we do not require such staff to be faith approved.
6: How many teachers are employed in your local authority all together ? including supply teachers in this figure please. 1061 teachers are employed by the authority. In addition  we have 127 secondary supply teachers who work as and when requested and 183 primary supply teachers.
