Formal applications for the provision of dropped kerbs for vehicular access to property are dealt with in 2 ways.

1) Enquiry from member of public requesting permission to install dropped kerbs to business/residential property using private contractor. There is no formal application process for this but if the Traffic Team deem that the location is suitable the resident/ contractor will need to submit an application to excavate in the public road (Road Opening Permit). This will be charged at the going rate for that financial year. Applications numbers  have therefore been provided below for each financial year. The costs of carrying out the work is a private matter between the householder and the contractor and that information is not available.

April 2009 to March 2010 - No Applications Recorded April 2010 to March 2011 -  35 Applications Approved at £92.00 each April 2011 to March 2012 -  40 Applications Approved at £98.00 each April 2012 to March 2013 -  40 Applications Approved at £98.00 each April 2013 to March 2014 -  22 Applications Approved at £106.00 each April 2014 to March 2015 - 36 Applications Approved at £109.00 each April 2015 to March 2016 - 32 Applications Approved at £114.00 each April 2016 to March 2017 - 33 Applications Approved at £120.00 each April 2017 to March 2018 - 37 Applications Approved at £126.00 each April 2018 to March 2019 - 43 Applications Approved at £139.00 each April 2019 to August 2019- 6 Applications Approved at £143.00 each

2) Alternatively the householder may request permission to install a dropped kerb and choose to use out Roads Maintenance Team to carry out the works. Although the Traffic Team are still required to approve the proposal, this contract can generate a Road Opening Permit independently and will invoice the household for the works that need to be undertaken. This is not a service used by many residents and therefore the numbers involved are very low compare to those requested by private contractors. The numbers and costs are detailed below. It should be noted that the works order system cannot provide information before 2013.

April 2013 to March 2014 - 2 Sites - Total invoiced - £1651.00 April 2014 to March 2015 - 4 Sites - Total invoiced - £3040.00 April 2015 to March 2016 - 3 Sites - Total invoiced - £2800.00 April 2015 to March 2016 - 2 Sites - Total Invoiced - £2986.86 April 2019 to August 2019 - 1 Site - Total Invoice - £1150.00

Please note that the above information is only relevant  to the installation of dropped kerbs for vehicular access.

Any provision of dropped kerbs for pedestrian access are funded by council budgets and will not be related to individual properties/residents.
