Flood Guards
Flood guards have been purchased and preparatory works completed to 237 Council owned homes in Elgin and Rothes at a cost of approximately half a million pounds. This investment was made following severe flooding in 2002 which damaged 237 Council homes and displaced families.
As part of these works, each home has a set of flood guards consisting of strong baffles, which are fitted over door and air vent openings to prevent flood water entering the property. During a flood emergency Council staff will respond by fitting flood guards, and provide targeted assistance to enable local residents to evacuate.
Information for owner occupiers on flood prevention products is available from SEPA.
