Community Groups
Local residents and communities are encouraged to think proactively about their aspirations for future active travel connections and routes, and how they can work together to support this. The section ‘Infrastructure and Active Travel routes’ has discussed the council’s development of the informative AT Documents, which can be used as input by communities to pursue their wishes of improved Active Travel routes. There are some good examples of community work across Moray that have resulted in new and improved Active Travel infrastructure or are currently in the process of doing so.
Some of these are:
LoMATR - this group strives to develop a traffic-free cycle track in between Lossiemouth and Hopeman.
Rothes Way – the route is near completion, except for the last section connecting to Craigellachie. They also have a Facebook page.
Forres Active Travel Group – this group established in 2023. They can be contacted by emailing: activetravelforres@gmail.com.
