Building Standards Service Update - Sent to agents on 27th September 2012
A new National Performance Framework for Building Standards will be implemented from 1 October 2012. This was a condition of all 32 Local Authorities being re-appointed by Scottish Ministers as verifiers on 1 May 2011 for a further six year period. This framework is intended to improve the quality, compliance, consistency and predictability of verification activities.

Building Standards are committed to providing a high quality service. As part of our ongoing improvement process, we are interested in monitoring the views of our customers and would appreciate your feedback on the service we provide. An industry Liaison event was held at Elgin Library on 11th June 2012. The event included presentations by Beverly Smith, Development Management Manager and Kevan Sturgeon, Building Standards Manager.
The presentations were followed by three workshops:
Workshop 1 – What needs to improve – your perspective
Workshop 2 – Implications arising from the presentations
Workshop 3 - Industry liaison group – representation, frequency, training days, agenda and nominations.
Initial feedback suggests that this was a very worthwhile event and further information from the session will be uploaded to this site once available.

The Building Standards Division handbook for Certification has been updated.
The Certification Handbook explains the roles and responsibilities of those involved in the certification system and procedures to be followed for the assessment of applications for new schemes and scheme provider status.
