FOI Request - Refuse & Recycling Fines
1.Can you please tell me how many fines were sent out to households for refuse and recycling in 2013/14 and also in 2012/13.
2.Can you tell me the amount in fines levied to households for refuse and recycling in 2013/14 and also in 2012/13.
3.For households, can you give me the number and amount of fines levied to households for refuse and break this down into penalty types – for example putting the bin out on the wrong day, failing to close the lid or leaving excess rubbish by the side of the bin. So, to reiterate, could I please get the number of fines and the amount for each penalty type for both of the two years listed above.
4.For households, can you give me the number and amount of fines handed out to households whose recycling was contaminated – for both of the two years.
5.If there are any other kinds of penalties attached to household recycling, can you tell me what these are and for each, the number and amount of fines handed out – for both of the two years.
6.Can you also tell me if there are any charges levied by the council for taking away recycling or waste, eg green waste? If so how much is the charge, what does it cover and how much has been collected in total from each charge levied by the council for both of the years given above.
Q1-4 No fines issued for refuse or recycling related incidents
Q5 No other penalties attached to household recycling
Q6 The only charge levied for removing household waste is a Bulky Waste charge of £19:92 (FY14-15) for up to 5 large items (such as furniture, large electrical items, etc) including up to 2 black bags of general waste. This does not include construction/demolition materials. There is no charge for the uplift of white goods (fridges, freezers, cookers, washing machines & tumble driers). All of these items listed can also be dropped off by householders at any HWRC, free of charge.
The total revenue from Bulky Waste collections for the FY 2012/13 was £15219:05, cost per uplift was £15:70. The total revenue from Bulky Waste collections for the FY 2013/14 was £15094:26, cost per uplift was £16:20.
