FOI Request - B9102 onto the A95
I would be grateful if you would provide the following information in relation to the unclassified road running from the junction of B9102 onto the A95 which passes through Knockdow wood, Fruggle wood as well as the settlement of Carron from 2007 to date.
(1) Dates of all safety inspections undertaken on this stretch of road.
(2) Details of all carriageway defects identified during safety inspections on this stretch of road.
(3) Details of how carriageway safety inspections are undertaken on this stretch of road, including whether walked or driven, the speed of the inspection vehicle and the number of persons in the vehicle.
(4) The intended frequency of carriageway safety inspections on this stretch of road.
(5) Details of all complaints and/or enquiries relating to the carriageway on this stretch of road.
(6) The defect intervention criteria adopted in relation to the identification of all categories of carriageway potholes (i.e. how do you define a pothole as requiring attention?)
(7) The time period(s) adopted between identification and repair (temporary and permanent) of all categories of carriageway defects.
(8) Has Moray council formally adopted all or part of the standards contained within the national code of practice for highways maintenance management?
The route described above consists of the whole of the ‘U139E Ballintomb Road’ and part of the ‘C15E Archiestown - Carron - Derrybeg Road’. The information provided to some of the questions below may also include enquiries, defects etc which relate to the part of the C15E that is out with your described route.

(2) Please see the response here and here . These are all works instructions issued to repair carriageway defects since 2007 – some of these would have been raised following safety inspections. We changed software systems in 2009, hence the 2 separate tabs.
(3) Safety inspections in rural areas are generally driven, and carried out by one Road Inspector. The vehicle will travel the route at approx. 20mph. Although driven, whenever a defect is spotted the Inspector will park up and walk back to the defect so that it may be measured and recorded accurately. Urban sections are walked.
