   ii.     Within this department(s), please, can you provide the details of staff who are responsible for day-to-day managing of the following legal areas; Commercial Litigation, Crime, Crime-Fraud, Employment, Intellectual Property, Litigation General.

2. Which department or departments are responsible for managing/supporting staff who are giving evidence at a legal hearing i.e. providing time off to attend court or providing support with training.

1. Which department or departments are responsible for overseeing legal affairs when your council is a party to a legal Hearing e.g. Legal Services, HR? Legal hearings  such as those brought against the council ? (high court, criminal proceedings), or more internal matters eg. Employment Tribunal  

Lead role generally lies with Legal Services but dependant on nature of case other services will be involved and dependant on where action raised/complexity we may instruct external advisers. HR would have lead role on employment

Legal -Alasdair McEachan (Head of Governance Strategy and Performance)/Aileen Scott (Legal Services Manager) HR -Grant Cruickshank HR Manager

   ii.     Within this department(s), please, can you provide the details of staff who are responsible for day-to-day managing of the following legal areas; Commercial Litigation, Crime, Crime-Fraud, Employment, Intellectual Property, Litigation General.

Legal - we have a small team so would not split responsibility for litigation in specific areas and deal with on case by case basis so day to day management for litigation issues generally lies with Aileen Scott as detailed above

2. Which department or departments are responsible for managing/supporting staff who are giving evidence at a legal hearing i.e. providing time off to attend court or providing support with training.

Again would be dependant on nature of case. Employment would be HR other issues would be legal or possibly external advisers depending on nature of case
