We are looking to understand how much the council has budgeted to spend and invest in sustainability this financial year

Although various Moray Council projects and services incorporate climate change adaptation and carbon reduction, the Council does not have a budget solely for that purpose. The Council currently budgets approximately £30,000 per annum to invest in energy efficiency projects, to reduce utility consumptions and costs, which also assist in the reduction of carbon emissions.   

A draft Climate Change Strategy (which includes a target of net zero carbon emissions by 2030) has recently been subject to public consultation and work is currently ongoing on its development, with a view to it being considered for approval by the Council in March 2021. This document is intended to provide context for consideration of any future funding commitments by the Council to tackling climate change.
